Different types of sheet metal
Sheet metal fabrication process is an important process widely used in metal manufacturing industry, which can shape flat sheet metal into complex and diverse forms and components through a series of operations such as cutting, stamping, bending and welding. Sheet metal fabrication uses a wide variety of metal materials, Commonly used include galvanized plate (such as SECC, SGCC), copper (CU), brass, cold rolled plate (SPCC), hot rolled plate (SHCC), aluminum plate (such as 6061, 5052, 1010, 1060, 6063, hard aluminum, etc.), aluminum profiles, stainless steel (mirror, brushed surface, matte surface) and so on.
About us
Which types of sheet metals Lori provides for sheet metal fabrication?
The choice of metal materials mainly depends on the nature of your fabrication parts , the requirements and the cost and difficulty of the process. There are three main sheet metal materials Lori provides when manufacturing sheet metal fabrication parts.
1
Aluminum sheet
Aluminum sheet is favored for its light weight, corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity. Aluminum alloy is a combination of the advantages of aluminum and the characteristics of other metals, widely used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing and other fields.
2
Steel sheet
Steel sheet is one of the most commonly used sheet metal materials, with high strength and good wear resistance. According to the different carbon content, the steel sheet can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and high carbon steel, to meet the application scenarios of different strength requirements.
3
Stainless steel sheet
Stainless steel sheet is widely used because of its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in outdoor and humid environments, which can maintain the stability and beauty of the material for a long time.
1. Steel sheet: Steel sheet has good ductility and processing performance, and can be made into parts of various shapes and sizes by stamping, cutting, bending and other processes. Its high strength characteristics make steel plate products perform well when bearing heavy loads and shocks.
o Advantages: High strength, good wear resistance, suitable for bearing heavy loads and impact occasions.
o Disadvantages: High density, processing may be more bulky; Some steel plates may rust easily and require surface treatment.
2. Aluminum sheet: Aluminum sheet is light in texture and easy to operate and form during processing. Aluminum alloy material has excellent cutting performance and welding performance, suitable for complex sheet metal processing.
o Advantages: Light, easy to process and form; Good thermal conductivity, suitable for high heat dissipation requirements.
o Disadvantages: Relatively low strength, easy to produce burrs and deformation during processing, not suitable for applications requiring extremely high load capacity.
3. Stainless steel sheet: Stainless steel sheet is more difficult, requiring special equipment and technology to ensure processing quality and accuracy. However, its excellent corrosion resistance and aesthetics make stainless steel products have an irreplaceable position in the high-end market and special environments.
o Advantages: Strong corrosion resistance, beautiful and durable; Suitable for outdoor and humid environments.
o Disadvantages: The processing difficulty is relatively high, requiring special equipment and technology; The cost is usually higher.
From the perspective of processing performance, steel sheet performs well in occasions that need to withstand heavy loads and impacts due to its high strength and good processing performance. Aluminum sheet has an advantage in lightweight and heat dissipation applications due to its light weight and ease of processing; Stainless steel sheets are favored in outdoor and special environments because of their corrosion resistance.
Automotive Manufacturing
Sheet metal fabrication is widely adopted in automotive manufacturing for metal parts such as car bodies, chassis, and engine covers. Steel, aluminum sheets, and stainless steels are extensively utilized in this field due to their excellent properties. For instance, aluminum sheets are often used for car bodies and engine hoods because of their lightweight, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing.
Construction
In the construction industry, sheet metal fabrication is mainly applied to aluminum curtain walls, steel structures, interior decorations, and other aspects. Stainless steel is widely adopted for curtain walls and decorative panels due to its aesthetic appeal and high corrosion resistance.
